IMPORTANT TEST CASE. THE RIGHTS OF JAPANESE. By Telegraph—Press Assn Copyright. Received August 14, 11.15 p.m. Washington, August 13. It is learned that the United States Supreme Court will be asked to declare Japanese a white race, and thus entitled to American citizenship. The request is to be made in the case of Takao Osawa versus the United States, in which the petitioner is seeking to establish the right to become a naturalised American. A former Attorney-General (Mr. Wickersham) who is appearing for Osawa, will claim that the Japanese are descended from Ainus and Yamatas, both being Caucasian, and which were originally Mediterranean stock.—-Aus.
