FIRST TEST TO-DAY.

NEW ZEALAND v. SI’RINKBOKS

FOGARTY WILL ELAY.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Dunedin, Last Night. Cold rain showers, accompanied by a’ strong wind from the north, made the prospects for to-morrow’s test not too bright, but by ten o’clock this evening a decided change for the better took place, the clouds dispersing and a stiff breeze coming from the north-east, with good hope that the ground will have recovered when the game commences tomorrow afternoon. These hopes are confirmed by a gradually rising barometer. The town is full of visitors, all trains arriving to-day being crowded, and should the weather conditions be favorable it is anticipated the “gate” will eclipse all previous records. It is now definitely announced that McLean will be unable to play, and Fogarty (Taranaki) will take his place. The Springboks will probably be represented by: Full-back, G. P. Morkel; three-quarters, Zeller, H. Morkel, Meyer, Clarkson; halves, Miobau, Town Mad; forwards, Boy Morkel (captain), Ellis, Kruger, Walker, Harry Morkel, Moeetert, Mellish and Van Rooyen (or Dupteaeac). Westport, Last Night. At a meeting of the Westport District High School Committee to-night it was resolved to congratulate George Aitken, a native of Westport and a of the school on his selection as captain of the All Black team against the Springboks, and to wish him success in to-morrow’s lt was decided to have an enlarged photograph of Aitken placed in the school, with a record of his educational and sporting attainments. The hope was expressed that he would be selected as a Rhodes scholar ae the first representative of the West Coast.

Complete arrangements have been made by the Daily News to display the result of to-day's match. Special telegrams, giving the scores at half-time and at the conclusion of the game will be received expeditiously, and they will be shown outside the Daily Newe office, in the window’ of Mr. W. H. Preece (tobacconist, in Devon Street Central), and at Pukekura Park, where the principal local game will take place. A full account of the match will be published in Monday morning’s Daily News.
