CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
THE ELECTION OFFICERS. A general meeting of the New Plymouth Caledonian Society was held at the Soldiers’ Club last night, and the enthusiasm displayed by the large number present augured well for the future success of the society. The rules drawn up by the sub-com-mittee appointed at a previous meeting were read and adopted. The following officers were elected:— Chief, Colonel Meldrum; chieftains, Mr. D. Todd (senior), Mr. R. W. D. Robertson, and Mr. A. M. MeDiarmid; secretary, Mr. J. Austin; treasurer. Mr. Vai Duff; auditor, Mr. L. McL. Monteath. A general committee of fourteen, consisting of the following, was also set up: Messrs. R. Mcßae, J. Finlay, T. G. Thompson, W. Williamson, C. McLeod, R. Bennoch, E. Smith, P. McKinnon, A. Smith, J. Erskine, J. Kinnear, W. N. Ewing, Misp Leitch and Mrs. O. Blundell. A ladies’ and a musical committee were also formed. It was decided to entertain Coilonel Moldrum at an Ingleside on August 25. at the Workers’ Social Hall, on the eve of his departure from New Plymouth to take up his duties on the Magisterial bench. The date of the proposed Caledonian sp6rts meeting was left to the committee to decide. The next committee meeting will be held on Thursday at the Soldiers’ Club.
