LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Hawera branch), report:— On Monday 18th ult., at our Kakaramea yards, on account of Messrs. Hurley Bros., we offered 100 heifers and 25 cows. Buyers attended in large numbers, and every beast was sold at a most satisfactory price. We quote: Best heifers £l5 to £2l, others £8 10s to £l3 10s, cows (medium) £l2 to £l5. At Palmer Road on 29th we had a good yarding, and we report a satisfactory clearance at the hammer. We quote: Fat cows £7 10s, forward ditto £3 Ils to £4 ss, others to 22s 6d, Jersey weaner heifers to £7 Is, Jersey cross (well grown) to £4 10s, others 275, dairy cows £l2 to £l7, ewes in lamb 15s fid. lambs (fat) 13s. On Monday, Ist instant, at Kakaramea, owing to the boisterous weather we had only a fair yarding. We quote: Store pigs £2 Bs, cows (good conditions) to £4 12s 6d, others 10s to 325,. empty heifers to £4 10s, Jersey weaner heifers to £6, others 36s to £3 10s, steers £l. At Eltham on Wednesday last wo had a fair yarding. We quote: Store pigs to 41s, small ditto 235, fat cows £6 2s 6d to £7 7s, forward ditto to £3 17s, stores 22s 6d, Jersey weaner heifers £G 15s to £7, steers £1 15s to £2, dairy cows (best) £2l, heifers (medium sorts) £8 to £l2 10s. On Thursday at Hawera, the large entry adv’erlised did not come forward owing to the very boisterous weather. We quote: Fat ewes 15s, ewes (in lamb) 15s, sows (in pig) £4 5s to £5 ss, porkers to £4 ss, stores 25s to 40s 3d, good conditioned cows £4 to £4 3s, heifers £4 to £4 12s 6d, forward cows 35s to £2 10s, others at -market value. Shorthorn weaner heifers (well grown) £3 ss, springing heifers £8 to £ll 10s, cows (old and inferior) to £lO. On Friday at Waverley we held our usual fortnightly sale. Prices at late rates.
