A very interesting match was played at Okato yesterday afternoon between teama representing Married v. Single, the latter winning by 6 points (two tries scored by R. Andrews and E. Putt) to 3 points (a goal kinked by P. Corbett). Mr. E. Andrews was referee. Mr. A. McDonald, the "All-Black" forward, has been associated with Mr. W. J. Stead aa a coach for the New Zealand team while in Dunedin, It is worthy of mention that Canterbury—• the only team which has so far beaten the South Africans—could not get a player into the New Zealand team, whereat Canterbury is naturally annoyed. The Springboks' heaviest pack of eigtt for-' wards averages list 111 b and their lightest 13st 3*4 lb.
STAR CLUB. GENERAL MEETING. A meeting of members of the Star Football ' Club was held last night, Mr. S. G. ' M.P., presiding over an attendance of about ’ twenty-five. i In opening the meeting, the chairman conI gratulated the club's teams on the positions they held in their respective grades. He I said that tb« seniors were second, the juniors I were third in their competition, and the fourths were second in that grade. This revealed a satisfactory position, and before the season ended he hoped to see some of them in premier positions. Mr. Smith also reuuilced on the Rime between Star and TiutaM, and he congratulated the club on the showing tbey made. The match, ho said, Rhowed that there was not much difference between the A and B grades. It was satisfactory to note that one member of the club (Dutfortl) had secured a place in the B reps., and this player had acquitted himself well Mr. Smith considered Dufiford should have bwn the chosen emergency when Kingston was not able to take the position of full-back against Canterbury. *■ The chairman reported that the committee had paid out .€26 ia connection pvith the jbrurance of players against accident, and It 'had been decided to make the following Levy: i Seniors and second grade 10s,‘ third grade ss, ' fourth grade 2s 6d. Prior to the trnmination of the meeting subcommittees were set. up to make arrangements for the club’s annual bali, and also fo? the customary end-of season smoko concert.
