ENTERTAINMENTS.
EVERYBODY’S. LAST NIGHT OF "ROCKS OF VALPRE & “'WESTWARD HO.” The famous all-Britidh double star programme, “The Rocks of Valpre” and “Westward Ho’* which delighted last night’s huge audience, concludes its season at Everybody’s to-night. A welcome change from so many* American productions, this all-British bill cannot fail to be a source of pleasure to all beholders, and to-night should see another packed house. The change of bill for to-morrow presents the popular and beautiful Elaine Kammerstein in her big Selznick screen play, “The Pleasure Seekers.” The bill will include “Bride 13,” comedy, interest and gazette. THE PEOPLE’S. BUCK JONES IN “TWO MOONS.” The big Fox double feature bill, commencing to-night at the People’s, is headed by the popular Western character actor, Buck Jones, in “Two Moons.” New stunts of daring, new situations to stir the blood and thrill the heart, aresaid to have been used in “Two Moons,” with the star himself at his best. Jones’ winning personality and his prowess as a dare-devil never were given fuller play in any picture, it is said. As a foil to his masculine masterfulness are the charms of Carol Holloway-, who plays the part of Hilnia Ring, a. daughter of the sheepmen’s faction. The other feature is “Oliver Twist,” featuring Harold Goodwyn, a rdtfl Charles Dickens picture. Fox gazettes are also on the bill, which screens at usual prices. ANTONIO NOTARIELLO. THE NEW ITALIAN TENOR. The principal musical topic of the week is the appearance in the Empire Theatre to-morrow night of Signor Notariello, the eminent Italian operatic tenor, whom Mr. A. P. Truda brought direct to New Zealand in his very prime, and whom authoritative critics in Italy claim to be one of the greatest of ail Italian tenors of the present day. Signor Notariello was a pupil of the eminent De Lucia, one of the most famous singers of his period. Both he and Sebastiano (one time teacher of Caruso) have expressed their firm belief in Notariello’s ultimate world-fame. For the past two years this eminent artist has sung the principal tenor roles in such operas as
“The Barber of Seville,” “Lucia de Lammermoor,” and “Traviata” at the Theatre Constanza, Rome, and his present repertoire contains excerpts from all the best-known musical literature. Appearing with Notariello to-morrow night are two artists of outstanding ability: Mr. Gordon Shdrt, solo pianist .and accompanist, is fresh from eight years’ study and concert playing abroad. He is said to be a master of tone and technique. Miss Ray Fox, who is regarded as one of the finest violinists Australia has produced, has earned the highest praise of critics in Auckland and Wellington. Early booking at Collier’s is advisable in order to save disappointment.
