WAVE OF CHOLERA. POISON GAS USED. ; FEARFUL SCENES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. London, August fl. ; Announcements in the Soviet Press coni firm the appalling sweep of cholera. They admit that There are 150,009 cases of cholera, affecting 24 areas. The failure of the crops in Central Russia threatens 46,000,000 with famine. A sensational Helsingfors report affirms that strong military cordons surround Moscow, and that they are using a poison gas barrage to keep refugees out. The Times border correspondents wire that the Red troops are savagely opposing the migration of the starving population. There are fearful scenes in the Volga districts, where the majority of the inhabitants are subsisting on acorns and grass. The Geneva Red Cross Committee proposes the formation of a central international relief organisation for the direction of all relief efforts. RUSSIA’S FOOD CONTROLLER.
