HAMILTON MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At. Hamilton on Thursday, August 4, we had a moderate yarding of all classes of stock which In general met with a cold reception. Beef opened very weak but showed improvement as the sale advanced. Steers made to £l3, cows to £l4 10s, this price being obtained for a well finished heavy weight cow from Mr. T. C. Blackett, Te Kowhal. Medium cows from £8 15s to £8 15s, lighter sorts £4 to £5 4s. 3-year steens were not in keen demand at auction, line sold after realised from £5 2s to £5 10s, store cows from £1 10s to £2 18s, very few 2-year cattle were yarded. The advertised yearling Jersey heifers from Mr. J. Kelso, Tamahere, realised from £l4 for the best, smaller sorts from the same herd £9 5s to £9 10s. Yearling shorthorn heifers made from £2 Is to £4 Is, the latter price for a nicely bred pen from Thos. Martin, Rototuna. Steers from the same vendor £2 Bs, sheep were again difficult to quit, fat wethers selling from 18s 6d to 21s. Most of the sheep yarded failed to reach reserves. Pigs were in fair supply and sold much on the basis of recent sales. Baconers sold to £6 7s, porkers £3 2s 6d to £4 10s, well grown slips 35s to £2 ss, smaller £1 to £1 10s, weaners 12s 6d to 18s. This seasons calves 3s to 4s.
