The Northern Company received advice yesterday that the Rarawa was unable to cross the bar yesterday for New Plymouth. An attempt will be made to cross to-day, and if successful, the vessel should arrive here early to-morrow morning and will return north at 8.20 p.m. CORINNA DISCHARGING, The Corinna was discharging her cargo from southern - ports yesterday, and it is expected she will be ready to sail for Dunedin to-day. NGAKUTA TO SAIL. The Ngakuta, Vhieh is discharging a cargo of cement from Portland, is expected to complete and sail for Greymouth to-day. VESSELS IN TROUBLE. A telegram from Auckland says the collier Malndy Lodge, which left for Newcastle in ballast on July 28, has returned to Auckland to replenish ter bunkers. She' was 360 miles beyond Cape Maria when a coal shortage became apparent, which was caused by the continuance of bad weather. A wireless message from the barque Mantirewa, bound from Whangape to Sydney, 250 milej off the New Zealand coast, reports four days cf hurricane. She has lost her deck cargo of sawn timber.

KOWHAI RE COMMISSIONED. States yesterday’s Times: The Union Company’s steamer Kowhal, which has been laid up at Wellington, was re-commissioned on Saturday, and was to leave Wellington yesterday for Westport to load coal for New Plymouth. Captain A. Reed (late chief officer of the Moeraki and captain of the Rosamond) Is in command of the Kowhal. His officers are:— Chief, Mr. A. Russell: second, Mr. T. Bevan; chief engineer, Mr. Alex. Lang; second, Mr. W. T. Cameron; third, Mr. M. O'Sullivan. THE CANADIAN SPINNER. Murray, Roberts and Company advise that the Canadian Spinner is due at Wellington on the 15th inst. (next Monday) from Montreal and New York, via Auckland. The vessel will discharge at Wellington and load for New York, after which she will proceed to Sydney, Melbourne, and New York. ATHENIC LEFT COLON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have received cable advice that the Athenic left Colon on August 4 for Wellington, en route from London and Southampton. The vessel is due at Wellington on the 27th inst. THE PALOONA, The Union Company advise that their intercolonial passenger steamer Paloona Is to sail from Melbourne to-day for Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington.
