INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent) August 3. The sale of Mr. W. Thomson’s contractor’s plant, teams, etc., conducted on Monday last at the farm, Lincoln Road, by Newton King, Ltd., was, in spite of very rough weather, a successful one. The ten horses sold at from £23 tb £55. Drays made from £l9 to £25. The harness, which was exhibited with the horses, sold at good rates. The farm stock included heifer calves, which made 355, ' yearling heifers 555. and springing cows from £9 to £l6. The rainfall report for July, 1921, for Inglewood, furnished by Mr. F. Brown, observer, showed 10.65 inches of rain fell on 17 days. The highest record was for the 3rd of the month, which was 4.41 inches. For July, 1920, Mr. Brown reports that 4.60 inches of rain were recorded, which fell on 13 days. The Mayor (Mr. J. R. Sutherland) returned to Inglewood on Tuesday evening, having been absent on urgent private business since Jyly 25. During his absence he visited the Hauraki Plains district, whither quite a number of Taranaki settlers have migrated in the last few years. Amongst those he saw he ‘mentions Messrs. C. Ansford. Syd. Williams, Jim Williams and Harold Allen.
