There’s no situation without some humor, and the present unemployment difficulty supplied a touch the other day, when two men applied for relief at one of the Government labor bureaux. Evidently the seagulls are also the enemy of trout in New Zealand rivers as well as the shag. Recently, while a local resident was standing on the wharf, he noticed a seagull dart down to the water. A little later a large trout floated on the surface, evidently stunned by the blow from the gull. Later, when the fish was lifted from the water, it turned the scale at 31b.
