Supreme Court is engaged in hearing a charge against Julia Marie Fitzgerald, forinerly postmistress at Blackball, of opening a postcard add | ressed to a resident, J. Gilmer. The | prosecution alleged that accused took ‘.he postcard into the telephone room fund, when she came but, remarked: ‘-‘lt was from one of Jack’s (Gilmer’s) old girls, who had enclosed a pound note. She then seeded the postcard. Gilmer was informed of the episode by another employee, and an inquiry was held by the Department. Accused regretted opening the postcard, but stated it hud been her habit to deal with Gilmer’s correspondence w : th his knowledge. The cafe liad not concluded when the Court rose. The question of whether an estate of an insolvent native after death may be administered in bankruptcy was the subject of an important judgment by Mr. Justice Sim (acting Chief Justice) today. He held that a portion of the Administrative Act applied to the estates of natives. MAN DROPS DEAD. Wellington, Last Night. The superintendent of police has received information that William Robinson, aged ’ 70, dropped dead at his residence at Upper Hutt yesterday.
