The Dunedin Presbytery appointed a deputation to wait on the local members before they proceeded to Parliament urging opposition against the increased totalisator permits as recommended by the Gaming Commission. OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. Wellington, August 2. Sir Francis Bell to-day informed a Post reported that the session of Parliament would commence on September 22. Mr. Massey will not have returned to New Zealand by that date.
