FLIGHT TO NORTH POLE.
AN AMERICAN’S PROPOSALS. TO GAIN SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 2, 5.5 p.m. Washington, August 1. Mr. Edwin Naulty, an American meteorologist, has announced that he will make a flight (.cross the Arctic Ocean to the North Pole, thence to Spitsbergen and to North Cape in Norway. The start will be made from Point Barrow, Alaska, in September. A stop will be made at the Pole for observations. One aeroplane will be used, and there will be three pilots besides himself. Mr. Naulty declares the adventure is not an incentive to fame, but he hopes to accomplish certain scientific results and study Arctic air currents and magnetic variation and inclination.
