MEAT DISPOSAL.
SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION. By Telegraph Press Association. Wanganui, August 1. In reference to the cablegram stating that Air. ?dassey condemned as impracticable a proposal to have retail shops in Britain for tlie disposal of New Zealand meat, Mr. \V. J. Polson, Dominion president or the Farmers’ Union and chairman of the committee to which the question of marketing meat was referred by the Farmers’ Conference, interviewed, said he was unaware whatt information was sent to Mr. Massev, ( hut he wished it made clear that the scheme at present under consideration contemplated several alternative proposals. One was to open retail shops, but no decision had been reached. The depot system of distribution, from depots to the ordinary retailer, was favored by some. Another proposal strongly sup- ; ported was that the producers should i link up with the Wholesale Co-opera- i tive Federation of New Zealand, now ; associated with the Australian and I South African Co-operative Federations, ' with an organisation in London. The | federation would thus be enabled to : open depots, but the whole scheme ; could only be developed if the farmers’ freezing companies became interested. In any rase no definite action had been taken*
