INGLEWOOD,
THE BOY SCOUTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.)’ August 1. It is pleasing to be able to report that the Scout movement in Inglewood is still a really live one. Just recently tests for badges have been passed by members of the Inglewood troop as follows: For thrifty men’s badges (that is, for Scouts having not less than £2 to their credit in a bank), three have qualified; for second class badges, 8; several for tenderfoot’s badges and one for camp sanitation have also passed, and the badges will be presented in due course. Knowledge of the good work being carried on quietly and steadily in their midst should tend to create interest amongst those who have hitherto held aloof to, at the least, show that they recognise the good work being done, and where they can to give a helping hand-and encourage those who have given and are still giving their time to the movement and instil more life into it. SATURDAY’S MART. Saturday was a busy day at Newton King’s, Ltd, Inglewood jnart, to which a large attendance had been attracted. There was a considerable number* of pigs put on the market, which realised from 15s io 26s for slips; an empty sow sold for £7; a young calf sold for 2s 6d; cocks and hens sold at from 2s to 3s. Milk cans sold for £2; hedge plant barberry made 9d per bundle; cabbage and cauliflowers made Is per bundle. There was a considerable quantity of furniture, household sundries and table vegetables which realised satisfactory prices.
