SECOND ANNUAL MEETING, The second annual meeting of the Rotokare Dairy Company was held at the factory. Westown, last night, when Mr. H. Marfell (chalriman of directors) presided over a good attendance of shareholders. THE ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report congratulated the shareholders on the increased supply of milk and production. Milk received, 1,083,662ib5.; lbs. of milk per lb. of cheese, 9.51; butter-fat received, 43,9981b5.; lbs. of cheese per lb. of butter-fat, 2.591b5.; cheese made, 112,0021b5.; average test, 4.05; creamery butter manufactured, TOOlbs.; whey butter manufactured, r»l43 l Z>lbs. After writing off the sum of £l6O 6s 7d for depreciation of plant and buildings, there remained a credit balance in the profit and loss account of £255 Is lOd. Owing to the shipments of cheese being late, tho total. payment to suppliers will not be known till after the final account sales are received, and the matter of further payments to suppliers will have to be left in the hands of the directors to deal with. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said that the milk supply, and also the output, showed a considerable increase, 50 tons of cheese having been manufactured, as against 40 tons the previous year. There had also been a big increase in tho whey butter made, whilst, tlie yield had also shown an Increase. The directors had decided to consign last year, and owing to tho shipments being delayed, some of the cheese was still on the water, and they would not De able to pay out. the final amount until the account sales came to hand. They had received an average of 10Vs per pound, and the payment had been made out. on that basis. Mr. J. O. Taylor seconded. THE DISCUSSION. Tn reply to Mr. Taylor, the chairman said that about half their output was still on the water. Mr. Ell Taylor considered that the average test should have been shown over tho cheese-making period, and also over the but-ter-making period, and this would bring the average test, for the cheese-making period down instead of showing 4.05 as stated. Air. J. O. Taylor said that he had hoard of a .factory in the Pahiatua district which »ad sold its output this season at. Is 2d, and he thought if such an offer was made to them they should accept it. Mr. E. Watson said that as the factory was not a very strong one it would probably have been’better had the directors sold. Personally, ho did not blame tlie directors for consigning, but he considered that once a policy was decided on, tho directors should stick to that policy each year. The chairman said that the cheese made-At tlie factory had graded very well, as had also the whey butter. Tho report was adopted. The question of the final payment was left in the hands of the directors.
The chairman asked for an expression of opinion from suppliers as to whether a policy of consignment or sale should be adopted this sermon. Mr. Eli Taylor considered tt-at In the event of a good offer being received, the directors should sell. Mr. Taylor pointed out that but for the drought in England prices would have been much lower than was the case at present, and in considering the question of sale or consignment, they must bear in mind that they would be liable to meet the usual fluctuations of the market. The matter was left In the bands of tho directors. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the manager (Mr. J. Wytken) for his splendid work during the season. The chairman re-, marked that the factory’s cheese had been twenty-fifth on the list for the average grade at Moturoa, and this was good considering that they had no pasteuriser. The whey butter had all graded first grade. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. For the two vacancies on the directorate there were three nominations, and the election resulted: E. Taylor 28, J. O. Taylor 27 (elected), G/ O. Purduo 25. Mr. H. W. Builot did not seek re-election, and Mr. A. R. Davis resigned owing to giving up fanning. Mr. C. F. Foote was re-elected auditor. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded tho secretary for his painstaking work, and also the directors, who had had a Yery oneroid year. At a subsequent meeting of directors M.
