KAI MATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The plain and fancy dress ball under the auspices of the Walmata Tennis Club, held on Tuesday night last, was a glorious success. The dancing space was not crowded, so that dancing to tho excellent music supplied by Peek’s orchestra of Waitara, was thoroughly enjoyed. The night was beautifully fine, and when the patrons in their fancy robes gathered upon the floor for the first dance, the room was filled with color and life. Bracegirdle and Davis executed their duties as M.’sC. in a creditable manner. A sumptous supper was served and the ladies who undertook its management are to be complimented upon the manner in which the arrangements were carried out. The decorations for the hall were carried out by Messrs. Davis, W. Bracegirdle, H. Burkhardt, and F. Mace, and truly the hall itself had the appearance of a tennis court. Extra music was played by Miss Wilson, Miss Burkhardt, Miss Perrott, Mr. Instone, and Mr. Thorby. The door takings amounted to £23 9s including from Mrs. J. Dobson Junr., and Mrs. Cameron.
