PRODUCERS’ PROBLEMS.
MR, MASSEY ON SHIPPING SCHEME, OPPOSES RETAIL MEAT SHOPS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received July 31, 5j5 p.m. London, July 3b. Mr. W. F. Massey informed the Aubtralian Press Association that he would gladly co-operate with New Zealand farmers in marketing their produce in Europe, but it must be on a commercial basis. He was willing to help exporters to institute a shipping line, but he was opposed to a State-owned line, 'Although the State might co-operate with private enterprise. As regards the farmers’ proposals to establish retail meat shops in England, it was impracticable. One British firm alone was interested in 1200 shops, which would compete with New Zealand shops.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
