PACIFIC NAVY.
BIG FLEET PROPOSED. SHARING THE COST. BURDEN ON BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received July 31, 5.5 p.m. London, July 29. The Empire Prime Ministers held two meetings to-day, the first at the Colonial Office and the second at Downing Street. Lord Beatty attended. The naval defence question was disposed of, but no decision was announced. It is [understood the details will be communiicated to the various Parliaments of the I Empire, subject to the decision of the ' disarmament conference. The scheme, if approved, will provide the strongest British [force, combined with the China, India and I Australian stations, ever placed in the [Pacific, capable of delaying any enemy for at leant a month. There is reason to 1 believe that Britain is paying three-quarters of the cost of the Empire scheme, and the Dominions the other quarter.—Aus.-N.Z, i Cable Assn.
