A statement of the receipts and. expenditure of the Consolidated Fund for the quarter ending June 30 ; 1921 and 1920, respectively, was publish'd in Thursday’s Gazette, and the figures given are more than usually interesting

For the first quarter of the present financial year, the receipts (including a balance of £8.591.208 brought forward) totalled £13,671,403, ae against £23,• 861,624 (including a balance of £17.538,976 brought forward) for the first quarter of 1920-21. The expenditure for the past quarter aggregated £8,081,370, as compared with £6,628.830 for the corresponding quarter of 1920-21.

The balance in hand at the end of last quarter was £5,590,033; against £17,239.69*4 at the end of June, 1920.
