VALUE OF DAIRY PRODUCE.
EXPORTS FROM MOTUROA WORKS. PROSPECTS FOR NEXT SEASON The remaining portion of last season’s cheese was cleared from the stores at Moturoa last week by the consignment i which was sent by r the Kia Ora. Altogether 121,632 crates passed through during the season. Butter handled amounted to 153,210 boxes. A consignment of 5973 was railed to Wellington last week for shipment by the Paparoa, and the quantity remaining in store is about 5000 boxes. The amount of produce which passed through the stores this season represents a value of over £2,000,000.
With the advent of August dairying operations in the province will gradually ft-Commence. The winter period has been a fairly good one climatically, and •the prvdiicer will be starting under favorable conditions as far as pastures ere concerned. • The coming season’s prices are the chief topic in the industry at present, and a number of prices, have been mentioned. It is reported that one factory was offered 11 fd per lb for cheese yesterday, but it is understood there was no business doing at, that figure. Offers of 2s per lb for butter have also been received by some of the companies, but this is for shortdated contracts. It is expected there will be a great deal of activity in the dairy produce market shortly.
