Orders for papers may also ba left with them. NEW POST OFFICE. July 28. Mr. R. Masters, M.P., has received the following letter from the Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works) regarding the building of the new post ofiice at Stratford: “Referring to your representation urging that tenders should be- invited for the erection of a new post office building at Stratford, I have to advise you that the plans and specifications for this work have now been practically finalised, and I have given instructions for tenders to be invited with a view to ascertaining at what price a building to suit, the requirements of the Postal Department could be erected. I am afraid, however, that I cannot give any guarantee that a tender will be accepted. You will realise that under prevailing financial conditions absolute necessity is the test which must be applied to expenditure of public money.” MR. T. ROBERTS FUND. The subscription list for the T. FRIESIAN BREEDERS. The Friesian Breeders’ Association met on Tuesday, Mr. C. A. Marchant presiding over a fair attendance. The principal business discussed was the classes of the Friesian breed, and arrangements for the holding of the'New Zealand championships iin Stratford this year. A £lO championship was offered-for the champion bull and [rhe champion cow; £l7 for cows with 'semi-official records; £5 for the yearling [heifer class/, and additional prize money for the two-year-old heifers in milk and pair of yearlings. It was decided to give cash prizes this year, in lieu of gold medals. A well-known South Island judge has been asked to officiate at the show. 'GENERAL. During the next few weeks Mr. H. G. Longworth, chief of the Naw Zealand - physical instruction ■ staff, will visit the Taranaki education district. He is expected to be in Stratford next Tuesday. At the Police Court this morning, Milton Vv. Barlow was charged before Mr. C. D. Sole, J.P., with the theft of a carpet I square, the property of T. I. Laniason. ] He was remanded until Monday. T. Lamason’s usual weekly sale is advertised for Saturday, when a quantity of ■brand new Congoleum and horse and cow covers will be offered for sale. A good farmer’s or householder’s bundle of stationery is supplied for 5s post free by Wilson Bros., stationers, Stratford.
