RACE EQUALITY.

CLAIM BY INDIAN DELEGATE. By Telegraph.—Press A.v>n —Copyright London, July 27. Mr. Sastri, speaking at the Lord Mayor’s luncheon, said that he and the Maharajah of Cutch had come to England to ask that “Our status as equal partners in the Empire be recognised, not merely in the united Kingdom, but with equal warmth arid readiness throughout the Empire. We are under no delusions respecting the difficulties which will be encountered before this is accomplished, and we are fully aware of the peculiar circumstances in parts of the Empire where the meaning of Empire is not fully understood, where more education is necessary before the electorates understand the significance of the lofty ideals of equality and brotherhood whereon the Empire is based. “We have learned the lesson of patience which conquers difficulties, and hope that the citizens of the United Kingdom will help us in seeking perfect and undiminished equality with the rest of the Empire.”
