CHIEF JUSTICE OF SAMOA.
MR. ORR WALKER APPOINTED. NEW S.M. FOR TARANAKI. Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, stipendiary magistrate for the Taranaki district, been appointed Chief Justice of Samoa in place of the present Chief Justice (Mr. J. E. Wilson). Mr. Orr Walker expects to leave New Zealand for Samoa on August '2O. and will relinquish his present position from the end or the month. Mr. Mowlem, now a magistrate in the Otago district, will take over Mr. Orr Walker’s duties in Taranaki as from August 1. The present Chief Justice at Samoa (Mr. Wilson), was formerly a resident of New Plymouth, having been in practice herd with Mr. George Grey. He wa ■ appointed stipendiary magistrate at Auckland, from where he was transferred to his present office. Mr. Wilson will now return to New Zealand and take up a position in the magistracy. The new appointee, Mr. Orr Walker, has been iii Taranaki about three months, having recently been transferred from the Grey mouth district. He was formerly a. member of the Wellington Military Service Board.
