THE TAHORA RAILHEAD.

WORKING COMING TO A STANDSTILL. Events at the Tahora. railhead of the Stratford-Okahukura Main Trunk railway point to t'he complete cessation of construction work at au early date. Little progress appears to have been made during the past few months, and many of the workers have gone further afield. Huts and material have been transferred to the relief works at Mount Humphries, on the Whanga-momona-Wanganui River Road. The •three carpenters left at Tahora commence work on t'he station building this week, but aa the dimensions of this structure are only 24ft by 12ft it will not take long. On Saturday the department’s timekeeper, Mr. Johnson, left for Te Roti, where he will be employed on the relief works in connection with the Opunake railway.—Post.
