AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY BARNES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, July 22. Barnes won the open championship with a total of 289. He did the third round in 78 and the fourth round in 72. The runnerswere McLeod and Hagen (298), Duncan (305) and Kirkwood (318). NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A flag match was held on the New Plymouth Club’s links on Saturday afternoon. The winner was J. Crapper, w£io played to the 19th tee. S. Burgess was second near the 19th tee, and D. H. Butcher was ttifd, on the ISth fairway. LADIES' INTER-CLUB MATCH, NEW PLYMOUTH v. STRATFORD. The lady members of the New Plymouth Golf Club will play a match against Stratford players on the New Plymouth links ott Thursday. The New Plymouth team will be: Misses Gavin, Brewster, Rundle, Rollo, Read. Simpson, Bremer and Golder, Mesdumes Butcher, Quilllam, Johns, McQuade, Wade and Burke. Emergencies: Mesdames It. Gray and Mac Diarmid. The Stratford players will be : Mesdames Burmister, Hill, Curtis, Christie, Abraham, Glasgow, Haward, Sangster, Lyons, Copping, Hall. King and Bridge, and Miss Wright.
