India, by wlnamg three out of five watches, eliminates France. AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS CRITICISED. Ottawa, July 19. Judging from the form of the Australian Davis Cup team in Ontario championship games, opinion here la that Canada has a better chance of surviving the elimination games than was formerly conceded her. Only two Canadians have yet been chosen—Bennett and Holmes (of Winnipeg), who were defeated in tho doubles final by Todd and Peach. The Canadian pair were beaten G—K—7, 7—6—4, and wore twice within a point of winning the match in the fourth set. Todd has shown excellent form, but the other Australians are patchy. JAPAN IN SEMI-FINAL, New York, July 28. Tho Davis Cup Committee has announced that tte Belgians are unable to come to America. Their default puts Japan in tse aeml-flnals.
