INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) July 20. The Hibernian Society’s ball, hedd in the Inglewood Town Hall on Tuesday night, was a great Success, in spite of the very unpromising weather. There was a very large attendance. The floor was as good as could be desired. Miss Curd’s orchestra provided the music and the duties of Al.C.’s were very ably performed by Messrs. F. Spurdie and W. H. Eagar, A special feature of the evening was the very artistic manner in which the supper tables were laid out. These were in charge of Mrs. Allan and her assistants, and the truly Wasteful array, offset with sprays of wattle and holly, won high praise from all present. The grand march was led off by the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr. and Airs. J. Sutherland), and the whole night’s event went from first to last with a swing. In one way it was fortunate that rough weather prevailed, otherwise it is probable that oven the large floor space of the hall would have been overcrowded.
