IN STRANGE LANDS.
A GORILLA AKIN TO MAN. WEIRD DISCOVERIES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received July 20, 9.30 p.m. London, July 19. A thrilling seven months’ journey through unknown regions of Belgian Congo is graphically described in the Daily Mail by an explorer, Captain Phillips. Many strange tribes were encountered. Captain Phillips crossed a waste tract dotted with piles of clean picked skulls, the work of cannibals. A new type of gorilla, differing from the known species, and most closely akin to man, was discovered; also a new species of otter and pigmy elephant. Captain Phillips says he discovered on rocks the footmarks of natives believed to be the first men on earth. —United Service.
