WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) July 19. The Plunket Society held its monthly meeting on Thursday last. The nurse reported having paid two visits to homes; adults to rooms, 20; babies. 21. The finance reports were read and adopted. The committee desire to express thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Farquhar for gift of seagrass square; to Mr. [ and Mrs. Ford for loan of. kerosene heater; Vto Mrs. Trim for gift of a vase; and Mrs. Hayhurst for gift of two cushion*. On Wednesday, July 13, six members of the New’ Plymouth Society paid a visit to the Waitara rooms and expressed satisfaction with all the arrangements. Mr. W. Topless, of Waitara, forwarded to the Woodville poultry show four pens of pheasants for exhibition purposes. The birds, with their handsome; markings, were much admired. Mr. Topless also exhibited a Chinese duck. Mr. L. 11. Johnston, teller at the local branch of the Bunk of New Zealand, is under notice of transfer. Archdeacon H. A. Hawkins, of Wa?mate, and superintendent of the Maori Mission in the diocese of Auckland, conducted Divine service at the Manakorihi pah on Sunday last.
