PARK TENNIS CLUB.
FIRST ANNUAL BALL. In inaugurating their firs£ annual ball the New Plymouth Park Tennis and Croquet Club worked assiduously for its success, with the result that last night’s function at the Coronation Hall proved an enjoyable gathering for patrons. The attendance was estimated at over 600. The committee in charge of the decorations attained a pleasing effect by a tasteful array of flags and fernery, and numerous colored lights and Chinese lanterns, giving the hall an attractive appearance. The preparation of the floor was carefully attended to, with the result that a very good surface was obtained. Supper was laid in one of the annexes, and the room was also artistically arranged, a profusion of colored streamers being suspended from the ceiling, while the tables were relieved with floral decorations. A part of the hall was set aside as a lounge for nondancers, and furnished with card tables. Music was supplied by Mrs. George's orchestra, augmented by members of the club, and the M.G.’s were Messrs. F. H. Robertson and C. Webster. The ball gnh-enwiTniTt.ee was under the chairmanship of Mr. T. Hobson, and Mr. L. Williams was secretary. Decorations to
Mesdames Frethey, Hill and McGahey, and catering was provided by Mr. A. Woolier. The committee acknowledge assistance received from the following: Mr. L. Hoffmann (for loan of a piano), Mrs. C. H. Burgess, Captain Waller, and Borough Council (use of flags), and the New Plymouth Fire Brigade (use of lanterns). The electrical decorations were carried out under the supervision, of Messrs. Smart Bros.
