UPPER SILESIA.
FRENCH ACTION. Experts to report, ( By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Paris, July 16. The Government, in acknowledging agreement with the British Note regarding the impossibility of a joint proposal being presented by the British, French and Italian High Commissioners in Silesia, accepts the suggestion that a committee of technical experts prepare a report for the meeting of the Supreme Council on July 24. At the same time M. Briand is furnishing London and Rome with particulars of the German military preparations in Upper Silesia and proposes, be j fore the meeting of the council, to despatch the reinforcements necessary to restore security and assure respect for the treaty of Versailles. Received July 18, 8.30 p.m. Paris, July 17 . M. Briand opposes an early meeting of the Supreme Council to deal with Upper Silesia."* He points out that the German military bands in the plesbiscite area and the vicinity are ready to oppose any decision of the Allies which does not give Germany complete satisfaction. and therefore it is necessary to postpone the meeting of the Supreme Council until Allied reinforcements are adequate to carry out the Council’s de-cisions.—Aus.-N.Z.
