OBITUARY.
EX-HIGH SCHOOL MASTER By Telegraph.—Press AwociAticn. Christchurch, Last Night. Private advice has been received of the death in London of Mr. Eric Rowe, holder of the 1851 Exhibition Science Scholarship. He was a native of, Wellington and youngest son of Mr. T. Ww Rowe, a well-known Christchurch lawyer. Before he left for England ha was a master at the New Plymouth High .School. The death of Mr. Rowe will come as a shock to his former colleagues at the New Plymouth High School and his friends in New Plymouth, with whom he was very popular. At an early age— Mr. Rowe was about 24—death has cut short a brilliant scholastic career full of promise, for the late Mr. Rowe showed exceptional brilliance in his work. He gained a scholarship at school when under age. and he followed up this success with a brilliant career at the university, where he gained the degree of Master of Science. He left New Plymouth last year, having gained the 1851 Exhibition Scholarship, after having been a master at the High School* for about a year, where he was ua middle form master. The late Rowe had. amongst other remarkable gifts, considerable merit as a musician.
