THE INGLEWOOD CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Corresponden. i The annual meeting of the Inglewood Bowling Club was held last Tuesday, when there were some twenty-five members present. The Ijresident (Mr. F. Spurdie) presided. Tie president’s report for the season 192021 referred to the season's play. The fact that the club have been represented with credit both at the Wanganui and Taranaki tournaments, was commented on. Members were reminded of the thanks the club owed to Mr. A. A. Leslie for the interest he had taken in the care of the green, its treatment and top-dressing, which had secured such good results that visitors always declared it was a pleasure to play at Inglewood; also for his presentation of the gold medal for the champion singles competition A section. won by Mr. A. Johnston. The report further mentioned the winners of the championship singles B section, Mr. (’. R. O'Carroll; champion pairs, Messrs. Esse and Leslie; and handicap pairs, Messrs. Frewin and Surrey. Further, the club was reminded of its debt to the ladies for providing afternoon tea, suggesting, at the same time, that a social and dance be given In their honor The report and balance-sheet were adopted The elections of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. F. Spurdie; vice-presi-
dent, Mr. G. Morton; committee, Messrs. J. Allan, Thos. Drake, F. Longbottom, and Jas. Wilson.
The resignation of Mr. R. Geddes from the office of secretary and treasurer having been accepted with expressions of regret, Mr. Simcock was elected to succeed him.
The president and vice-president were appointed' delegates to represent the club at the Taranaki Centre, and tte president was appointed selector of teams. Mr. J. Wilson offered a trophy for competition in the B grade champion singles. It was decided to present the trophies of the last season on the opening day A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. E Olson for acting as auditor, and Mr. G. Pullan was elected auditor for the ensuing year.
It was decided to hold a social, as recommended in the president's report, at a date to be decided later.
On the motion of Messrs. Spurdie and Leslie, Mr. W. E. Percival was elected a life member of the club in recognition of his many services, and the secretary was directed to write him a letter of sympathy wltk him in his long illness, and express the club’s hope for his return to sound health Mr. Esse spoke at length in reference to the "knock-out” system In competitions, and moved that It be a recommendation to the committee of this club to revert to the old style, each player playing with every other , competitor in any contest. This was seconded by Mr. McLagan and carried. I Votes of thanks to the retiring officers for , their services, and to Messrs. Percival and Messenger for the use of the meeting room • concluded the meeting.
