LAND AND EDUCATION,- J /‘e'errapb.—Pres# Association. Wellington. July Ifl. The Labor Party discussed the land platform. It was decided to support all forms of agricultural co-operation; Also that the powers of municipalities should be increased to enable them to run their own milk farms. In addition the platform reads: “No privately-own-ed land shall be sold or transferred * except to the State.” Educational matters were discussed : fit length. It was decided to favor ail children remaining at a primary I school until attaining the age of sixteen. Another motion urged the estab- | lishment of free night schools for per- • sons over sixteen years. The Sehotff Journal was discussed and the con ferenco protested emphatically against )the teaching of Imperialistic and militarist ideas and the inculcation of racial antipathy and hatred. The journal fchould be used to teach ethics, healthy home life and good citizenship. Additions to the education platform include the provision of free medical attention for children, universally free books, and the teaching Esperanto as an auxiliary language. A ballot for the national executive resulted in the election of Messrs. P. {{Fraser, T. Brindle, F. Cornwall, Mrs. now and Mrs. Ford.
