THE WELLINGTON CATHEDRAL
A. NATIONAL MILITARY MEMORIAL.
The Wellington Cathedral Committee has approved the establishment of a million half crown fund in connection with the Great National Memorial Military Chapel for Wellington. The names of all New Zealanders who fell in the South African and the Great War will be inscribed in letters of gold on its walls. The windows will commmorate the various military campaigns in which tha New Zealanders have been identified— Samoa, Gallipoli. France, Flanders, Egypt, Palestine, South Africa, etc., and the wonderful collection of war flags, etc., presented by Marshals Foch, Petain, Haig, Allenby, etc., will be deposited there. Many organisations, such a« the Savage Club, artillery brigade and schools, etc., are taking the opportunities provided to place their memorials in the Military Qiapol, and as the names of all who have fallen (irrespective of creed) will be .recorded, it is felt that the opportunity of taking part in the million half crown scheme should be accorded to all in the Dominion, ns it is intended to make the record as complete as possible, and to include the names of all New Zealanders who made the great sacrifice, whether linked up with the Imperial, Australian or other forces.
The hon. organising secretary, the Rev. C. F. Askew, Wellington, is desirous of obtaining a complete* record of such names, and will be glad to have them sent to him. Mt. F. W. RogersRowland, to whom as an Englishman the scheme has appeared so greatly, has kindly consented to get as hon. assist-ant-secretary, and is now in Auckland in connection with the. movement.
