MOTION OF CENSURE.
IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. LABOR AND HOUSING. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— CopyrightOwing to the Government’s abandonment of its housing schemes, Dr. Addison has resigned from the Government, declaring that the solemn pledges to the people and the Governments obligations to local authorities have been 'betrayed. Mr. Lloyd George, replying, says the financial situation has forced the Government to cry a halt in its housing plans. Received July 15, 11.20 p.m. London, July 14.
In the House of Commons, Sir Alfred Mond (Minister of Health) outlined re* duotions in housing subsidies. He said 176,000 houses were now approved, the annual cost of which to the State was £15,000,000. The Government had therefore decided to limit subsidies to these 176,000 houses. The Labor Party, following on Dr. Addison’s resignation, tabled a motion of censure on the ground that the intention of the Government to curtail financial obligations was a gross breach of faith, bringing Parliament into con-tempt.—Aus.-N.Z.
