The Golden Bay Cement Company deben-ture-holders have appointed a committee of investigation into the affairs of the company, to report on August 4. FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society •of N.Z., Ltd., reports: On- Monday, June 27. at Otakeha, we conducted a very .successful clearing sale on account of Mr. Thos. Herbert. Mr. Herbert had everything well arranged, and the sale went with a good swing from start to finish, satisfactory prices being obtained. Best Jersey cross cows made up to £23. Other breeds, young, £l2 to £l5; late calvers and old sorts, £5. to £9; Shorthorn weaners, £2; small cross, in-calf ■2-year heifers, £4 10s; Jersey bull, £l5 15s; horses, gelding, £.43; mare, £33; wagon, ,£7O; other implements and sundries, full values.
On the same day at our Eltham yards we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. T. H. Taylor. The cows were mostly young and in good condition, and commanded spirited competition. The Ngaer.e herd averaged £l9 11s 6d, and the Rotokare herd £l5. Other horses, etc., brought full values.
On Tuesday, the 28th, at Mrs. E. J. Gamlin’s. Rama Road, Kaupokonui, we had a most successful sale’. The cows were mostly young but in low condition, but despite this drawback they sold wel'. The 03 cows averaged £l3 10s.
On the same day at Messrs. Jano Bros., Normanby, we disposed of both their Waverley and Normanby herds. The former herd were mostly Jerseys and commanded good competition, the highest price being £35 10s, and averged about £l5. The Normanby herd were mixed sorts and did not command the same attention, the Shorthorns bringing the average down. Jerseys mad.e up to £24 and down to £ 17; ’ Holsteins, £lO to £l5; others up to £lO. Horses and implements, full values.
On tte same day our usual monthly sale was held in our Manaia yards, when the cattle pens were well filled, for which competition was particularly keen. The horses were young and good and clifty useful sorts, and found fresh owners after brisk bidding. The following are some of the prices:—Grey gelding, £44; ditto. £37; bay gelding, £35; mare, £2B; gelding, £3O, etc. Being a small herd the cows ware a selected mob and the majority of them made from £2B to £35. Pedigree bull calf, 20 guineas; Jersey In-calf heifers, to £24; weaner heifers, £5 10s; sows to farrow made £2 2s Gd; slips, 17s to 19s/ 4-year gelding, £18; tmare, £l6; best cows. £4 IDs tv £6 7s Cd; others, 25s to 50s; bulls (grade jersey), £5; Jersey cross weaner heifers, £4 to £5.
On ti:e 29th, at Mr. Len. Wickham’s, Kaponga, we had a highly satisfactory clearing sale. There was a very large attendance of the public, and the sale went with a good swing from start to finish. Mr. Wickham had miles of sundries, carts, etc.
