BRITISH RAILWAYS.

ECONOMIES AFTER DECONTROL. REDUCTION OF CHARGES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 14, 7.55 p.m. London, July 13. Drastic economies are foreshadowed by the railway companies after decontrol, in the shape of staff reductions, clothing, unremunerative stations, and the cutting out of unremunerative trains. The high freights and fares will certainly be reduced. The railway companies admit that the road motor transport during the coal strike had become a serious ompetitive factor, to meet which rigid economies were necessary.—United Service.
