TRIBUTES TO MR. MASSEY.
HIS TENTH YEAR OV OFFICE. PRAISE FROM BRITISH PRESS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. < Received July 12, 8.15 p.m. London, July 11. The Times makes complimentary reference to Mr. W. F. Massey’s tenth anniversary of his accession to office. The paper .gays he has ever been a determined fighter, always pledging his energy in the interests of the State and in the best service of the Umpire. The article eulogises the whole-hearted manner in which he urged the people of New Zealand to throw their full weight, their patriotism and resources into the Allies’ fight for world freedom. There were no moments of hesitation on his part in guaranteeing the practical patriotism of New Zealand on behalf of the Empire. The article also refers eulogistically to New Zealand’s war effort, giving statistics of the contribution in men, and adds a tribute to Mr. Massey’s consistant attitude regarding the War Cabinet, his efforts in favor of Imperial preference, and records his useful work at the Peace Conference. Other leading London, and provincial papers make complimentary reference to the occasion. —Times -Service.
