MR. MASSEY SEEKS REDUCTION. CONFERENCE IN LONDON. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright. Received July 12, 11.35 p.m. London, July IlMr. W. F. Massey had a conference with. New Zealand shipowners at the Hotel Cecil to consider a reduction in freights. Sir James Allen was present, and also representatives of the Shaw, Savill Line, the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, and other Ines. The producers present included Messrs. Elgar. Riddiford, Bell, and Tripp (Wellington): Makgill and Long (Auckland); Dickie (Taranaki); Vavasour (Marlborough): Pharazyn and Campbell (Hawke’s Bay). Mr. Massey and Sir James Allen pointed out that owing to the fall in prices the cost of transport frequently left exporters without a profit, and sometimes with actual losses. A small committee was appointed to inquire and report.—Aus.-NJJ. Cable Assn.
