Cox sold canned fruits, Narkunda pears 7 5s Cd c.i.f., peaches 14s 9d duty paid, peaches ex Shepparton Victorian State factory 13s fid duty paid, subject to inspection. Bradford new business is limited, buyers awaiting developments owing to the expected reduction in the combing tariff. The cheese market is very firm, having advanced considerably owing to the dry weather. New Zealand .white about 120 s, colored 116 a; Australian white 110 s, 114 s, colored 104 s, 110 s. The Treasury has suspended the sale of six months' Treasury bills, which were on’.y placed on the, market a week ago, presumably to assist the Treasury bond issue. CANTERBURY MARKETS, Christchurch, July 8. Oats are scarcely so firm as they were a fortnight ago, although values remain practically the sama. The explanation of the lack of inquiry is probably the breaking of the drought in England. The potato market is weaker. Over-conslguing from Canterbury is depressing the market in Auckland. Quotations for spread delivery have receded to £3 15s f.o.b. 5.1., which Is practically equal to £2 10s per ton at country stations. Another factor is that the later dry crops are turning out better than the early ones. There is a brighter tone in the seed market. Dressed white clover has been a medium of business at 190 s, equal to Is 2d to Is 3d undressed Cowgrass, dressed, has been sold at 955. equal to about 8d per lb undressed. Linseed has been selling to a slight extent at reduced lues. Quotations are up to £l2 for good average quality, and £l3 for very good. LOAN AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., Hawera branch, report: At Kakaramea on Monday, owing to the boisterous weather the advertised number did not come forward. The whole of the small entry was sold at auction at late rates. We quote: Good conditioned cows £2 5s to £3 13s, stores 20s to £1 17s 6d, 2-year Sliorthom heifers £4 12s, Jersey weaner heifers £4 13s to £4 14s, others 365, steers 14s, fat and forward wethera 17s. On Wednesday at Eitham we had a fair yarding. Bidding was not brisk, but in spite of this the majority of the entries were sold. We quote: Good conditioned cows £3 15s to £5 2s 6d, young empty cows £2 os, others 12s 6d to 375, Jersey weaner heifers £5 ss, steers 255, medium dairy cows £l2, fat ewes 17s 6d, forward ditto 12s. At Hawera on Thursday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle and practically the whole yarding was quitted at market value before leaving the yards. Jersey weaner heifers were keenly sought after. We quote: Good conditioned cows to £4 10s, stores 25s to 40s, others at market value, bulls 10s to 255, 2-year empty Shorthorn heifers £4 6s, Jersey weaner heifers £6 to £6 2s, Jersey cross ditto £3 to £3 15s, springing heifers Jersey and Jersey cross £l4 10s to £l5 10s, otters to £B, good Jersey cows to £2O ss, medium Jersey and Jersey (2nd calvers) £lO to £l5 15s, others at market value, store pigs 335, empty ewes to Ils Id, forward wethers 13s 7d to 15s, ewes 13s 2d.
