IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS. I By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 9. The Hospital Commission’s report tocommends the Government to half the capital requirements of boards and half of the net maintenance requirements. The basis of the allocation of 19-20tha of the Government contribution: among the individual boards should be. on the principle that the heavier the* burden of a board’s requirements on th® rateable capital value of its district, th® higher the subsidy, but that the rate of subsidy per £ levy should not exceed: 26s nor be less than 14s. The remaining twentieth of the contribution should be specially allocated in equal proportions to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin hospitals, for thq purpose of developing the work of special departments essential to a base hospital, other hospital boards to have the right to send patients for special treat* ment on payment of maintenance fee« Voluntary contributions shou’d be subsidised £ for ,£. A uniform fee of three guineas for adults and £1 Ils 6d foi children under 14 was suggested, and private wards should be establishes wherever possible. The Commission suggests means by which economies might be effected, including the establishment of a supplies and purchase board anc the appointment of an architect.
