Preparations for to-morrow’s conference between De Valera and the Southern Unionist House of Commons proceed in Dublin, which apparently is unconcerned at the prospects thereof. Meanwhile, during the week-end Irish rebels murdered several policemen, including two who were previously held prisoners and another young constable who recently returned from his honeymoon. Rebels also attempted to destroy a troop train, but they were interrupted by the South Lancashires, who surprised rebels laying six mines on the Great Southern Railway. Six rebels were wounded while fleeing. Mines, other explosives, electrical apparatus and a motor car were captured. Many outrages are reported in central Antrim. Telegraph wires were cut and Ballymena was isolated, while post offices were raided and looted. Bridges and roads were destroyed in Tyrone, and incendiary fires occurred in Armagh. London is completely cordoned by special police, with a view (to checking the activities of rebel incendiarism. Attempts to set ffie to signal boxes and cut wires were frustrated.—Aus.-N.Zj.
