ANNUAL REPORT. The sixth annual report of the Patua Dairy Company states:— It is very gratifying to see sucli a substantial increase in the amount of milk received, notwithstanding the long dry spell of weather that was experienced at the latter end of the summer and throughout the autumn. The quantity of milk received and the figures relating to production as compared with the previous year are shown hereunder: Number of suppliers, 1921, 40 (1920 33); quantity of milk received, 6,511,653 lbs (5,968,9631b5); quantity of butterfat received, 258,3351bs (237,1031b5); average test, 3.97 per cent. (3.97 per cent.); quantity of whey butter made, 6Gs9lbs (17,7181bs); quantity of cheese made (factory weight), 383,9581bs (623,2561b5); quantity of cheese made per lb of butter-fat (factory weight) 2.71bs (2.621b5); quantity of milk to lb of butter made, 136,0691bs (nil); over-run, 16.83 per cent, (nil); lbs of milk to each lb. butter, 21.171b s (nil). During the year the sum of £25,888 3s 5d has been paid to suppliers, being equal to 2s per lb of butter-fat. After providing £l9l 14s for depreciation, there remains a balance of £0242 7s sd, to the credit of profit and loss account. The company has two shipments of consignment cheese at present on the water, and another shipment has arrived Home and has been disposed of, but as the account sales of these shipments are nob yet to hand it is not possible at this juncture to state definitely what the results will be. The directors now recommend an interim payment of 4d per lb on butterfat supplied during the twelve months covered by the balance-sheet, and the balance will be paid out to suppliers as soon as the stock of cheese in cool store is shipped and the final account sales are to hand, and the net results of the season’s operations known. It is anticipated that the average payment for the season will be somewhere in the region of 2s 5Jd per lb of butter-fat.
