UNEMPLOYMENT.

. SITUATION NOT GROWING WORSE. The Minister of Labor (Mr. G. J. Anderson) stated on Thursday that the official information reaching him did not indicate that the unemployment difficulty was growing more serious. The registration at the Labor Department’s bureaux last week had been about the same in number as the registration for the preceding week. Some men had been sent to relief works, but the number so disposed of had not been large. The position, the Minister indicated, was being watched closely, and it appeared that for the present at any rate the measures that had been taken by the Government were proving reasonably adequate. There was always a certain amount of unemployment at this time of the year, chiefly among men whose occupations were seasonal.
