STORM IN AUSTRALIA.

Two well-known coastal steamers, tha Kiama and the Kintore, are many hoursj overdue to Sydney and in view of theE heavy weather fears for their safety arei entertained. Sydney, July 2. ■ A storm of great intensity struold ■Sydney last night, the wind reaching ai velocity of 65 miles per hour. Shipping along the coast was driven to shelteq and harbor traffic across the Heads wm( stopped. Considerable damage was donq in the city and suburbs, houses were une roofed and trees uprooted.
Advices from the country state that heavy rains have fallen over the north-j east half of the State, and serious floods are threatened in the Darling and parts of the north coast Brisbane, July 2. A tropical disturbance of a cyeloma character developed near Brisbane and passed south, betokening severe galas between Moreton Bay and Sydueyj Heavy rains are recorded in the central and southern divisions. The steamers Kiama end Kintore, after a rough night, reached port safely. They sustained slight daj mage. Considerable damage was caused; in the country by floods, which are now> subsiding.
