ANTWERP WOOL SALE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —-Copyright. Antwerp, July 1. At the B.A.W.R.A. wool sale 20,000 bales were offered and 9000 sold at a parity with London closing rates. Buyers were mostly from Verviers (Belgium), France and Alsace. EASIER MONEY FORESHADOWED. London, July 1. The Treasury has anounced the suspension iof the sale of 5% per cent, twelve months' ‘ Treasury bills and the substitution of six 1 (months* bills at the same rate. The money i market regards this as foreshadowing easier money rates and a further reduction in the bank rate. NATIONAL BANK DIVIDEND. London, July 1. The balance-sheet of the National Bank of New Zealand shows a profit of £306,394, written off premises account £35,000, reserve for depreciation of investments £75,000, pension fund £10,500, reserve £20,000. The final dividend is 12 per cent., and the bonus 2 per cent, tax free. The amount carried forward is £115,894. LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 29th ultima:— Tallow.—We quote present spot: values for the following descriptions Fine mutton £ 1 15s 6d per cwt., good beef £1 17» 9d per cwt., mixed £1 9s 3d per cwt. Fine mutton, market slow; other descriptions, market strong. Butter. —Good demand for New Zealand butter. Quotation unchanged (£9 12s per cwt.). .Cheese.—Better market. White £5 4s per dwt.; colored £ 5 2s per cwt. Frozen Mutton.—s%d to 8&d per lb. Frozen iMimb.—ls 1 5-8 d per lb. Frozen Beef.—Hindquarters 5 l-8d per lb; forequarters 3 5-8 d per lb. Market dull. SOUTHERN GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS. DULLNESS IN MANY LINES. Christchurch, July 1. The oat market is dull. The best quotation from Great Britain is Is 6d per quarter per bushel less than the rate when tie recent freight reduction was announced). Chaff is dull, and £3 10s to £3 12s 6d is the maximum offer at present. Potatoes are meeting with very little inquiry, recent heavy shipments to the North Island having caused a glut In the supplies and reacting detrimentally here. However, a few farmers are prepared to offer at the figure ruling. The demand for linseed is weak. Nominal quotations are £ll to £l2 per ton, with shy buyers. Barley is a drug on the fharket. Brewers are holding big supplies, and there is still a big quantity in farmers’ hands.
