REQUESTS FROM TARANAKI. INQUIRY TO BE MADE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 1. Applications for permission to erecti-toll-gates on the road to Day’s Bay andy at about seven different points in the; Taranaki district have been received ( lately by the Public Works Department, j Whether the toll-gate system is to beperpetuated is one of the most insistent questions before the department, and the Minister has now asked three of the depar tin ent’s engineers (Messrs. C. J. McKenzie, G. T. Murray, and H. Sharp) to bring up to date the information on tha subject. All three of these engineers have in succession been district engineer in Taranaki.
